No New Insight, Just Checking In

First, welcome Warrior Girl. Thanks for your comments on some previous posts. Guys and Gals, check out her thoughts on the second chair as warrior post.

Second, isn't it good to be serving our Lord Jesus and His church. Be reminded of this Scripture from Ephesians 1:22-23. It states, "22And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 23which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way." You are serving His church, which is his body and that which is the expression of his fullness.

I know that at times it doesn't feel this way, but be encouraged. No matter what is coming at you, from your first chair to your congregants, to that seeker who is in crisis, the church you serve is under His leadership and is making a difference.

Oh yeah, you are helping it make that difference. So here is what I am asking you to do. Post some comments just updating everyone in the Second Chair Blog Community of what God is doing in your ministry. This type of reflection is an encouragement. It will also be an opportunity for us all to get caught up and reignite our prayers for one another. So good, bad, ugly, sad, amazing, wonderful, or whatever the way you would describe your circumstances, let us know so that we can serve each other in prayer.

Here is one final word of encouragement. It is my life verse. Romans 15:13 states, "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."

Now trust in Him and overflow!!!!!

What a funny post, considering m situation...

A while ago I mentioned to all of you that there was an opportunity to move to a second chair role where my best friend would be the first chair. Well, that opportunity was "approved", but has taken longer than anticipated to come to pass. Thank God. It gave me the chance to see that wasn't what a I wanted.

So anyways, our local church is in a lot of transition (the good kind, if there is good transition!), and I've been talking with my pastor, 'cause the wife and I don't feel long for Tallahassee. I told him I'd like to work for our "denominational" office in a position that I was making up out of thin air. I didn't even know if they were hiring. He thought it could be a phenominal fit, made a call to the executive director, who just happened to be hiring for almost exactly the position I made up out of thin air. Wow.

In less than 24 hours from that time, I had a flight booked to interview on Tuesday for the job. After having some friends look over my resume, one of them told me he saw my name on an email that listed me as the director's assistant, meaning the interview might be a formality. I was also asked how soon I might be able to move...

Did I mention my wife's pregnant, and it's the first time we've made it to the 11th week (meaning it's safe) out of 4 pregnancies?

So anyways, wisdom, grace, and God's will be done are prayers that I covet right now.

How's everyone else doing? :-)

I just wanted to let all of the non-commenting lurkers know that I decided to withdraw my name from consideration for the job. It was a wonderful position, but when I actaully looked at it in the face, I decided I didn't want it. In case you were wondering.

What’s up?

I just realized that I have to give up my second chair position. I knew it would probably come to this, but the reality is a bit much to get my arms around. The position was somewhat forced upon the first chair by a board. Most of the rest of the team felt it was imposed upon them as well. Not a good situation, but for the good of the organization it needed to be done. Eighteen months later I find that it is not going to work for a variety of specific reasons. Maybe someone else can be found. I will suggest a restructure tomorrow. And offer my resignation or take a subordinate role. I will say no more … I will be unkind, or sin against my brothers.

Anonymous -- I trust that you will find hope in the midst of this storm. If you will receive my encouragement, don't forget that Jesus is in the midst of the storm with you, even if you think He is asleep and doesn't know what is going on. Remember, men disappoint us, fail us, hurt us, and are quite fallible.

A few words that I trust will bless you: In your anger, do not sin. Also, where there is much talk sin is not absent, but he who holds his tongue is wise.

Don't be anxious in well doing, for at the right time you will reap a blessing if you don't give up.

Hang in there and find rest for your soul in Him.
